LITHUANIAN MEAT FILLED PASTRY
Ingredients:
Pastry:
2 cups Flour
1/2 lb. Butter
1 Egg
Salt and water
Filling:
1 1/2 lbs. boiled meat (from broth)
1 onion
1 egg
2 tbsp. bread crumbs
2-4 tbsp. butter
Salt and pepper
Method:
Filling:
Grind the meat
Finely chop onion and saute in butter.
Add the ground meat and saute again.
Add bread crumbs
Add a dash of salt and pepper
If the mixture is too dry, add small amount of broth
Add egg
Mix well
Lay to one side.
Pastry:
Take first 3 ingredients, add dash of salt
Knead together carefully.
Chill.
Roll out pastry
Cut in circles with a cookie cutter
Place filling in centre of circles
Fold over to make oblong cakes
Brush with beaten egg
Bake in medium oven
Serve: Warm
